What is your motivation?

What is your motivation? “People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.” Mother Theresa of Calcutta Ask yourself- do you so things in your life for others out of obligation or do you do things out of love? Are you doing things because you want something in return or is your act of service selfless, knowing that your good deed will benefit another? You will notice that when you are in service to others out of love, the whole experience changes. We all have many tasks that we do on a daily basis that take up our time. Some we are excited to do and others not so much. It is easy to perform out of love when we are excited about what we are doing. However, when feel that it is a chore and we are not appreciated, we may be resentful or negative and perhaps will even procrastinate because that is the attitude we bring to that situation. Perhaps, you feel this way about work, perhaps you feel this way about taking care of your children, perhaps you feel resentful because of extended family commitments. In whatever context, if you change your intention to act or serve in love, I can assure you that the impact will be great. It is the little things in life that are most impressive. Even this morning, I did not start the day on a high note and a beautiful comment given to me by a friend was an act of service that has changed the tone of my day. I am immensely grateful of this act of service and my day just got better. So I will pay it forward and do the same for others for I know that if I serve today from a place of love, rest assured my needs will get met. My challenge to you all today is that if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed like me, take a minute, take a deep breath , and set your intention to act or serve out of love. Like I said, it will change your experiences throughout the day and this intention will also change you for the better, as well as all the wonderful people you come into contact with. Then, people will sing your praise even if you never know it because you made their world a better place. So Do Good Anyway and Serve from a place of love.
