You need a quick fix-practice the art of giving!

“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”

Maya Angelou Author and Poet

There is nothing better in life than to give to another person. It can be the art of giving love, happiness, support, or service- you name it, there can be nothing greater for your soul.  There are so many different ways you can start giving to others. Big or small, fancy or simple.   It can be giving your time to listen to someone who desperately needs to talk.  It can be sending a specially prepared Cd filled with music that inspires (my sister is a professional at this one).  It can be sending a card to let someone know how much they are loved and cherished.  It can be sending a text, cannot get much easier than that.  It can be sending a care package to another to brighten their day.  It can be giving another person a beautiful compliment that can change the trajectory of their life.  It can be giving gratitude to the divine for all of your blessings.  It can be calling someone out of the blue to chat.  It can be offering to mentor someone as they start on an exciting journey in life.  It can be offering your support and compassion when you see someone struggling.  It really can be anything that you can think of.  The bottom line is that there is no greater feeling in the world than the feeling that giving to other people stirs up in you.  The loving energy that you give out is always matched.  It may not be matched by the person on the receiving end, but you will receive it again as it comes back to you because it will come back you. And, sometimes allowing others to give to you can be a wonderful act of giving too, receiving with gratitude is equally as powerful.  Giving does in fact liberate the soul of the giver.  It makes you feel the tremendous rush of the positive vibrations that start to reverberate all around you.  Try it today- if you feel down, look around- so many people out there are lonely and need a hug or a smile.  So hug it out and smile, you will feel so much better.  Perhaps you are feeling alone, pick up the phone and call that friend that you have been thinking about to tell them that you are proud of them and wish them well. There is power in action and with the intention of giving to others, you are serving the world as a whole as well as yourself and the intended recipient. And just to bring you back to the classic stories of childhood, it was Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree that first taught most of us the joy that comes from giving, especially from nature that is all around us and gives to us each day.  Just try it, practice the art of giving,  it can change your life and in the process free your soul and that is a good fix if you ask me! “Come, Boy, sit down. Sit down and rest.” And the boy did. And the tree was happy.” ― Shel Silverstein, The Giving Tree
