This is a truly beautiful quote. It really has you stop and ask yourself what will your legacy be in this world? What lasting impact will you have? How will you be remembered when you have gone from the physical plane? Will the world be a better place for having known you? Then think about the people in your life who have radiated love in your presence, who have shared kindness, who have brought laughter to your world. Think about those people and imitate them. For it is not the awards or the promotions that dictate the worth of a person. It is the lasting effect of a hug or a kind gesture that changes our world and allows you to pay it forward to others. We all seem to be incredibly busy doing our day to day tasks. We should never be too busy to stop and give our time and loving attention to another. Our memories somewhat fade, however, the emotions tied to those moments will remain strong. We will always remember that person who despite the tasks and obligations, took the time to make us feel valued just because. Having crossed paths with many people from all walks of life, my memories of my favorite people are tied to how I felt when I was in their presence, even if it were only for a brief moment in time. Did I feel loved, did I feel special, or did I feel accepted for who I was? These are the important questions- then I can ask myself the same thing, did I make another feel loved, did I make another feel special or did I accept another for who they were? I am in awe of the many opportunities that we get in life to get it right. The opportunities that we get to be kind and caring are constantly interwoven in all our lives, will you stop and take the time to respond to that call to action? I am constantly grateful to be surrounded by people in my life who radiate love. It is a constant reminder to me to do the same- for in the end people will not remember how much money you made or even what car you drove- they will remember how you made them feel. And, when you connect in those moments, the good feelings come and the God winks are plenty! Perhaps you too can take the opportunity to reevaluate your priorities and purpose in this context-make this journey worthwhile for it is our once around. So don’t play it safe and fear your own vulnerability.
