“Everything we need to learn is always there before us: we just have to look around us with respect and attention in order to discover where God is leading us and which step we should take next.”
Paulo Coelho, The Zahir
I am dedicating this week to trusting the process of life. So to begin with this theme, I challenge everyone to give up the idea that we have control over the circumstances that surround us and make a decision to believe that every opportunity in our lives are learning experiences that will make us better people if we allow it. By giving up the notion of external control, by being still and trusting in your life’s direction, you can grab on to the belief and faith that everything happens for a reason. Even if you do not believe that, there are times when we have no control over the path in front of us and by releasing the reigns, even just a little, we really start to allow and accept our lives as they unfold. Someone told me once, that it is in the silence, we can hear or see the direction that we need to follow. That is why many encourage us to take at least 5 minutes a day to stop and sit away from the chaos of the multi-tasking and reflect in meditation and actually become aware of the signs you receive. Perhaps if you are frustrated with your future direction or in the alternative, feel like you’re the luckiest person in the world, take a moment each day for yourself and pay attention to what surrounds you and let your appreciation for both circumstance come to light. It is in both these times, that we can continue to move forward and learn as we trust that we are a part of something greater than we will ever know.
