“I wanted Sarita to be happy, yes. But I wanted more than that. You say she is different. This is true. Many things can change a woman. Things that happen inside, things that happen outside. But the thing that matters most is what she thinks about herself. In
Kiniwata, Sarita believed she was worth nothing. Now she knows she is worth more than any other woman in the islands.”
“Then you wanted to make Sarita happy—”
“I wanted to marry Sarita. I loved her and no other woman.”
“But–” I was close to understanding.
“But,” he finished softly, “I wanted an eight-cow wife.”

Look at the people that you love in your life. Do you show them their value to you, do you make them feel special, do you make them feel like they are worth more than “ten cows”? I inherently know that kindness begets kindness. This is true. However, there are relationships that are very close to me where there resides a lot of sadness because we do not make each other feel valuable anymore. I just read a quote where Tony Robbins exclaims, “Do what you did in the beginning of a relationship and there will be no end!” Amazing and once again so true. When we start out in a relationship, we are attracted by the person’s beauty in the form of an energetic bond as well as an incredible interest in all who they are. We think of them daily and want to make them happy just because we want to show them our love and we want them to know how important they are to us. Over time, if you are not careful of this precious gift, habits of negativity, anger, distrust, and unkindness get in the way of that beautiful and special bond. Over time, both expect the continued feeling of not being loved to permeate. Over time, you wonder if there is ever anyway to return to the beginning again where that love could conquer all. My suggestion and hope would be that if you try each and every day to make your significant other feel like he or she is worth more than “ten cows” so to speak, then you can change that person from the inside and that love that was lost can return. It is a hope. When people see the best in you, you are changed. When people see the beauty in you, you become more beautiful inside and out. When people see how special and valuable you are to the world, you align yourself with that belief. It is kind to act this way to that special person and it is kind to act this way for the world. So, begin today and start to treat those you love as if they are worth “ten cows” and the relationships will transform before your eyes. You will protect it from all harm. You will want to show more love than ever. And, ultimately you yourself will change for the miracle that occurs before your eyes.
And from a place of worthiness, we all will blossom!
