“Let us not be content to wait and see what will happen, but give us the determination to make the right things happen.”
Horace Mann 1796-1859, Education Reformer and Politician
I don’t know about you, but after the stress from travel, preparation and experiencing the holidays, all I want to do right now is sit back and rest. So perhaps after reading the above referenced quote you may not be feeling the push to put forth an overwhelming effort to make the right things happen because action to you may translate into something super human. Stop yourself right now from putting one more ounce of stress on your already full life. I do not believe that superhuman status is required of us to make the right things happen in life. What I do believe is required of us is to pay attention to where you are in your life, set your intentions for where you want to see your life blossom, do your best where you stand and detach from the result with love. I believe if you need rest, to sit and reflect- with meditation or prayer- then follow your heart. I believe that if you feel called to action to make some changes in your world- ask for the courage to do so and follow your bliss. I believe that if you sense an imbalance in your spirit- then identify where it is coming from, forgive yourself for whatever holds you captive, and surrender and release. Being kind, gentle and loving to the present moment is what we are called to do. There we no longer sit and allow ourselves to be bystanders to how our life unfolds. We are determined to be active participants in our life and our world. And, that just requires us to wake up to what we need and be ourselves, whatever that looks like to you.
I want to leave you all today with the lyrics from Seasons of Love from Rent- think about life from this perspective, perhaps listen to the song. Life can be so full of moments, paint those moments with love and then life can be so full of joyful moments! This is the ingredient that we all need to make the right things happen-LOVE. If you are going to take action in life, make sure that your actions are guided by love. Be sure to ask forgiveness from yourself and others when your actions are guided by anything else. We are not superhuman, we are human! “Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets In midnights, in cups of coffee In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure, a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love
Seasons of love Seasons of love”
