Can’t wait to see what the world has in store for me today!
“The first step towards awakening is admitting you want something different.” Joan Duncan Oliver I often wake up in the morning and think to myself “Here we go again!” Sometimes it seems like we are reliving the same moments just at different times in our lives. Like the movie Groundhog Day, we hit the alarm and it is still February 3 and everyone is waiting to see whether an external event will happen, so that they can gage what will happen in the future. In that case, whether they will have 6 more months of winter or not. The question becomes clear as the lead character tries to move on in his life, what would happen if we all stopped relying on external events to determine what will happen and looked within to make the changes towards something different? And Voila, if and when you ask yourself that question, the world seems to open up to you because you become the catalyst for amazing things, not the silly groundhog. So instead of waking up to the notion of “here we go again!”, perhaps the declaration can be “ can’t wait to see what life has in store for me today!” Then live out the answer to that statement passionately. Engage in your day filled with opportunity, process the lessons that come before you with an intent curiosity, and most importantly, embrace the experience with gratitude and love. As the wise Aristotle pointed out, “ We live in feelings, not figures on a sundial. We should count time in heartbeats.” While the notion of time guides us as the day becomes night and then night becomes day, the reality of what really guides us as to how we live the moments of time are our feelings. If you feel stirred to desire something different for your life or something more in line with your purpose or calling, now is the time to awaken to that conscious reality and start taking steps in that direction. Guide yourself by your heartbeats, listen to your own internal guide and ask it to show you the way! We may like the idea of routine, but there is no reason we cannot have routine guided around principles that challenge and improve our lives to something better. So instead of repeating the drudgery over and over “here we go again”- shout with enthusiasm, “Cant’ wait to see what the world has in store for me!” I can guarantee with that kind of excitement, your feelings of empowerment will rise to the occasion and it is going to be a great and amazing day! Something to think about!
