“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule but to schedule your priorities.” Stephen Covey
I am a priority in my life. There I said it. I am not a martyr. I do not believe that sacrifice will get me to a better place in the end. I am the product of my choices. And I choose what gets my attention and what does not.
Priorities. My life cannot be too busy to schedule time for myself and those things in life that matter most. Those friends I think about and wonder how they are doing-perhaps in that moment is when I make the time to reach out. That time to exercise and really start to take care of myself-perhaps in that moment is when I make the time to stretch my body and at the same time my soul. That thing that I always dreamt of doing-perhaps in that moment is when I prioritize what I need to do to take the steps to get it done!
The lists in life are long, stop the glorification of business. Shorten it up and set out those priorities that make you happy, that fill your cup, and that reenergize your spirit. It is not to say that you forgo your responsibilities in life. No, not at all. What I am saying is if you get intentional and schedule your priorities on your own terms, then your energy will change to where you actually are living the life you came here to live rather than default to what you think you are suppose to do. Get the manicure, take the walk outside, make time to breath and take it all in. Don’t you think that wherever you are at this point in time, you need to make the choice to be the first on your list of priorities? If you don’t put yourself there, then who will! No regrets!
